OEF Update, June 9, 2009: 3 US Servicemembers Wounded in Kunar Province Attack
Dispatches from the Front:
Kabul, Afghanistan, June 9, 2009 -- Several Afghan civilians were wounded and another reportedly killed in an attack in Kunar province that also wounded 3 U.S. servicemembers. The attack occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. local time.
Coalition forces were attempting to free a vehicle that had become stuck when they were attacked with small arms fire. An unknown person from a nearby building threw a grenade, which caused the death and injuries.
Following the attack, the team freed the vehicle, and proceeded to a nearby coalition compound. The area has been secured and the incident is under investigation.
