Pentagon Identifies Army Casualty (OIF)

WASHINGTON, June 17, 2009 -- The following news release made available Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Defense is the text of a statement identifying a casualty:
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.(Report from a U.S. Defense Department news release.)
Capt. Kafele H. Sims, 32, of Los Angeles, died June 16 in Mosul, Iraq, of a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 18th Engineer Brigade, Schwetzingen, Germany.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
