News in Balance:

YOKOSUKA, Japan, July 9, 2009 -- The search for a missing U.S. Navy sailor continued July 9 after he fell overboard from the guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67) as it was preparing to enter Tokyo Bay.

Shiloh searched along with two U.S. Navy tugboats (YTBs), two U.S. Navy SH-60B helicopters, the Japan Coast Guard cutter Hamanami, and a Japan Coast Guard Puma helicopter.

The crew member fell overboard July 8 shortly after 1 p.m. local time while the ship was transiting into Tokyo Bay following a return transit from Kure, Japan. The sailor was conducting routine evolutions to prepare the ship for its return to port when he apparently fell from the fantail.

The sailor's name is being withheld while the search is ongoing.
