Disrespect the Man, Not the Institution

WASHINGTON

Bush on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. When will Cindy Sheehan start acting her age?

Still, it's refreshing to see good `ol non-partisan Capitol Police come to the rescue of time honored tradition and governmental rules of order.

Note to political fanatics: you can disrespect the people all you want but don't dare disrespect the institution the that gave you the freedom to be disrespectful.

I'm confused here. An American citizen does NOT have the right to protest his/her governments stance? It's the STATE of the UNION after all. Where the President speaks up (presumably) about what's going on in America. The 2,225 dead is something that is going on in America. And she has every right to speak her mind in a peaceable fashion without the fear of arrest. As the previous comment suggests, how is clapping or not clapping any different from wearing a shirt with a slogan (which in this case is a body count) to make your point? I say good for her. And whether you're Red or Blue, you should be applauding this woman for having the guts to stand up for what she believes in.

The police also ejected a Republican Congressman's wife for wearing a t-shirt that said "Support Our Troops." If free speech is this far eroded that supporting the troops is illegal, America's almost beyond saving.

I'd say she was a threat to the President's safety.

Stop! Stop! Our sides are splitting!

Y'all folks are just spinning the right to free speech out of a policy of decorum.

The Constitution does not give Cindy Sheehan the right to wear that t-shirt and be disruptive just as it does not give George Bush the right to wear only a Speedo when giving the State of the Union.

More succinctly, I support your right to protest for or against abortion. However, if I am a woman having a legal abortion, you better damn well keep your protesting butt out of the operating room.

It is just immature to support any disrespect in the very halls of freedom so many have given their lives to maintain.

Personally, as much as I would love to see it, I am proud that we have not fallen to government sessions like Taiwan’s where leaders often settle disputes with their fists.

Like I said before, you can disrespect the man but don’t disrespect the institution that gives you the right to be disrespectful.

Cindy Sheehan, and those who put her up to being disruptive, disrespects us all.

Cindy Sheehan is a sad, angry woman. I am sorry for her loss but it doesn't give her the right to act as she does.

She has demonstrated a complete misunderstanding of politics and makes ridiculous remarks.

It is ok to disagree with the admin but calling Bush a terrorist and or comparing him to Hitler is so far over the top it is not even funny.

Sheehan wasn't demonstrating. The media outlets apparently ran a story with doing any fact checking. There was no banner, no demonstration, no yelling or attempt at disruption. And, if it were just the t-shirt, which it apparently was, I don't agree that it meant she should be removed. I also don't agree with anyone else's removal for the same reason. The party affiliation doesn't mean jack in those cases.

Read her own account, if only to take note of the huge differences between what she says happened and what the corporate media and the arresting officer said.

I believe the Capitol Police said Cindy Sheehan disobeyed police orders to to close her jacket and quiet down.

It was at that point she was led out and arrested.

It's simple, you disobey the cops, they can take you to jail.

Period.

Cindy Sheehan needs to grow up.

BTW, please get some views of your own. It's more original than repeating the partisan crap that far-left echo chamber Kos blogs up.
