I have been really interested in your continuing blogging on this topic. Please see my comparison of some international news articles on this topic--I'd be interested to know what you think!
It ironic that, the only country in Europe to stand up to the Nazi's in WWII is now standing up to The New Nazism.
This wave of violent protest against a cartoon is an illustration of how Islam is just a recycled form of Nationalism. It was used to whip up the masses, 70 years ago, how are we not recognizing the similarities. People with nothing else to live for except anger, frustration, and violence. Our governments should be strongly renouncing this violence as well as protecting our right to free speech. Was there rioting in the Christian world over the depiction of Kanye West as Jesus Christ on the cover of rolling stone? Of course not, this rise of hatred in the Muslim world is just old fashion Nationalism wrapped in a cloak of religion, it is the opiate of the masses, and now it is a danger to all of freedoms. The US government is appeasing the Muslim world by not taking a stronger stand for free speech, and I applaud the European Governments for taking a strong stand. The pen is mightier then the sword. I will make sure to go out and buy as much Carlsberg Beer as I can keep in my house.
Sad to withhold my name for fear of reprisals
"It’s hard to believe anyone who supports terrorism, and the killing of innocents, is offended by a cartoon."
Interesting observation there Raymond B.
