Gallery of the Absurd: Middle East Wire Photos

Thousands of Tanzanian Muslims march during a demostration against the ongoing Israeli assault on Lebanon in the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam, Friday, Aug. 4, 2006. (AP Photo/Khalfan Said) It would be interesting to know how many of these Tanzanian Muslims can actually ready the words on the signs. If the message is for Israel, why aren't the signs in Hebrew, anyway?

A supporter of Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) burns a U.S. flag during a rally in Karachi, Pakistan August 4, 2006. The rally was held to condemn Israel's air strikes on Lebanon and Gaza. REUTERS/Akbar Baloch (PAKISTAN) Most times we see folks burning US flags because they don't want America meddling in their business. Now they burn American flags because the US won't become actively involved in their business.

Children take part in an anti-Israel protest in Karachi, Pakistan August 4, 2006. The rally is organised by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to condemn Israel's air strikes on Lebanon and Gaza. The words on the black headscarf reads 'God is great'. REUTERS/Athar Hussain (PAKISTAN) The future of Islam.

Lebanese women walk past the smoking remains of a medical storage depot in Ouzai after it was hit by Israeli air strikes August 4, 2006. (Adnan Hajj/Reuters) The caption reads that these women are walking "past the smoking remains of a medical storage depot" after it was hit by Israeli air strikes. If all is as it seems, I want to know why perishable medical supplies were not stored at a hospital (where they are needed because of the war)?

A crowd gathers next to the bodies of farm workers who were killed when Israeli missiles slammed into a refrigerated warehouse, near the town of al-Qaa, about 10 kilometers (six miles) from Hermel, near the Lebanon-Syria border, Friday, Aug. 4, 2006. Four Israeli missiles slammed into a refrigerated warehouse where farm workers were loading vegetables near the Lebanon-Syria border on Friday, killing at least 28 people, and wounding 12 other workers according to officials at the Syrian hospitals where the dead and wounded were taken. (AP Photo/Samer Husseini) Email Photo Print Photo The caption reads, "A crowd gathers next to the bodies of farm workers who were killed when Israeli missiles slammed into a refrigerated warehouse." I'm no expert but it looks like the only thing growing on this farm is rocks. Besides, the last time I checked, farmers worked on farms and not in warehouses.
