ARABIAN SEA (Feb. 21, 2007) - The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) conducts operations in the Arabian Sea. The John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group is on regularly scheduled deployments in support of Maritime Security Operations (MSO). North Arabian Sea (Feb. 21, 2007) - Aircraft director Airman Sofia Gonzalez from air department's hangar bay aircraft control division is one of five female directors aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) working in the hangar bay. Directors are responsible for safe aircraft movement from the hangar to the flight deck and back via aircraft elevators. The John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group is on a regularly scheduled deployment in support of Maritime Security Operations (MSO). North Arabian Sea (Feb. 19, 2007) - Gunner's Mate 2nd Class Daniel Fisher covers the back portion of the ship as the rest of his team ascends a ladder during a visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) drill aboard the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54). VBSS teams are used to board foreign vessels and help pressurize the maritime environment, which disrupts and deters terrorists from using the sea as a venue or enabler for terrorist activity.
