PACIFIC OCEAN (July 27, 2007) - Seaman Dana Fitch, of West Palm Beach, Fla., sands a chock on the fantail aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Chocks are sanded and painted after the ship pulls out of port as the ship's mooring lines wear off the paint, opening the underlying metal to corrosion.
