ATLANTIC OCEAN (March 8, 2007) Commander Kurt. A. Kastner, commanding officer of the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Antonio (LPD 17), and Lt. Col. John W. Capdepon, executive officer of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, search the horizon for a ship lost in stormy seas off the North Carolina coast. The ship braved 14-foot waves during the search for the craft, which reported losing electronic and navigation capabilities. The craft returned to port using a magnetic compass.
