NATO: 9 ISAF Soldiers Killed in Northern Kunar, Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan, July 13, 2008 -- Nine International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldiers died in fighting in northeastern Afghanistan near the Pakistani border, NATO reported today.
In addition, 15 ISAF and four Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were wounded.
The fighting began in early morning hours and continued into the day as insurgents were repulsed from an ANA and ISAF Combat Outpost (COP).
Although no final assessment has been made, it is believed insurgents suffered heavy casualties during several hours of fighting.
