WASHINGTON, April 9, 2009 -- After receiving a tip from a concerned Iraqi citizen about a possible cache of explosive devices, Iraqi Security Forces and Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers discovered a cache of IEDs April 8 in the Mansour district of northwest Baghdad.

Iraqi Soldiers from the 54th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division supported by troopers from the 4th Cavalry Regiment discovered the IEDs in the bushes of a house at approximately 10:35 p.m.

A Coalition explosive ordinance disposal team responded to the site and dismantled the devices. The devices were moved to a nearby Coalition base to be further examined by the Coalition EOD team.

In another operation, Iraqi Security Forces detained three individuals and recovered two rockets after an indirect fire attack on Forward Operating Base Delta April 7.

An ISF spokesperson said there was evidence that two rockets were launched from the Anwar District in Kut, and two rockets were recovered from the same site by the Kut Special Weapons and Tactics unit.

Local Iraqi Police, KSWAT and Iraqi Army units coordinated in securing the site, conducting the search and detaining the three individuals.
