WASHINGTON, June 11, 2009 -- Iraqi and U.S. forces arrested three people in northern Iraq who are suspected of emplacing roadside bombs and coordinating attacks against coalition forces, military officials reported.

One suspect was arrested in Mosul on June 9 by the city’s special weapons and tactics unit. Ninevah province’s Operations Investigative Court issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest for allegedly emplacing roadside bombs and facilitating various attacks on coalition forces in the province, officials said.

In Diyala province June 4, Baqubah’s emergency response force and U.S. troops arrested two people. The Central Criminal Court of Iraq issued the arrest warrants based on the suspects’ alleged connection to weapons smuggling, emplacing roadside bombs and carrying out attacks against coalition forces.
