Pentagon Identifies Army Casualties (OEF)

WASHINGTON, Sept. 16, 2009 -- The following news release made available Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Defense is the text of a statement identifying casualties:
The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device Sept. 14 in southern Afghanistan. They were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.(Report from a U.S. Defense Department news release.)
- 1st Lt. David T. Wright II, 26, of Moore, Okla.; and
- Sgt. Andrew H. McConnell, 24, of Carlisle, Pa.
