SHOALWATER BAY, Australia (June 20, 2007) - A landing craft air cushion (LCAC) arrives in the well deck of amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) to onload Marines and their equipment during a nighttime beach assault. Talisman Saber 07 (TS07) is a biennial U.S. and Australian led Joint Task Force exercise designed to prepare both nations for crisis action planning and execution of contingency operations. CORAL SEA (June 20, 2007) - A landing craft air cushion (LCAC) prepares to enter the well deck while awaiting the departure of a CH-53 Sea Stallion on the flight deck of dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46) while conducting Talisman Saber 07 (TS 07). TS07 is a U.S.-Australian joint and combined exercise, involving 32,000 military members from both nations, which will feature crisis action planning and execution of contingency response operations in land, sea and air maneuvers. Tortuga serves under Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group 7/Task Force 76, the Navy’s only permanently forward-deployed amphibious force. Rockhampton Quay Street, Australia (June 17,2007)— U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier jets from the U.S. Kitty Hawk fly by Quay Street for the opening ceremony of Exercise Talisman Saber 2007 (TS07). This biennial exercise is designed to enhance the combat readiness and interoperability between U.S. and Australia military forces in support of the Global war on terrorism. It is conducted in Australia and focuses on crisis action planning and execution of contingency response operations. TS07 is the largest joint/combined training exercise in the region consisting of more than 20,000 U.S. and 7,500 Australian personnel conducting land, sea and air evolutions. ABOARD USS JUNEAU – Marines and Sailors from the 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade’s 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, launch a combat rubber reconnaissance craft from the stern of the USS Juneau (LPD 10), during an amphibious landing rehearsal of the coast of Queensland, Australia, June 15. The rehearsal was in preparation for Exercise Talisman Saber 2007. Talisman Saber is conducted to train an U.S. and Australian joint task force and operations staff in crisis action planning for execution of contingency operations. The exercise involves more than 32,000 personnel from both nations that will focus on improving interoperability and enhancing regional stability.

Talisman Saber is conducted to train an U.S. and Australian joint task force and operations staff in crisis action planning for execution of contingency operations.
